Why Lititz is the Coolest Small Town to Call Home
November 10, 2017Lititz is a small town created by Moravians to have a community all their own. It was founded in 1756. Lititz has opened its doors to people of all different creeds and is an amazing small town because of it.
If you are considering moving to Lititz, here is just a small sample of the things you can see and do:
1. Lititz Springs Park
Originally, the Lititz Springs Park was cared for and maintained by the Moravian Church. They opened the park for the public to enjoy, and for cattle to graze, as well as drink from the spring. Over the years, however, the burden of caring for the seven-acre park became too much to handle for the congregation. The responsibility was then given to the Lititz Board of Trustees.
Since then, the park has continually grown to host events, concerts, a playground, and a duck pond. While there, you can also visit the Lititz historical museum and head across the street to the Wilbur chocolate store! It’s a perfect way to spend an afternoon.
2. Hands-on-House Children’s Museum
The Hands-on-House Children’s Museum is a wonderful place to let children, and children-at-heart, explore a variety of exhibits. The Hands-on-House is geared toward children ages two through ten, and offers all-day access with admission. Children must be supervised, and each group of four needs an adult.
The museum is all on one floor and is wheelchair accessible. They also have a small gift shop that offers a wide range of products for every price range. There are picnic facilities as well as many restaurants in the surrounding area. The museum is open year-round, excluding the outdoor exhibits.
The museum has exhibits that help children learn about the world around them. For example, the Corner Grocery exhibit, Play Garden, Face Painting Porch, Post Office, Your Own Backyard, and many other exhibits.

There are public as well as private tours, and even a full moon tour. All proceeds go to the wolf sanctuary and offer a better life for the wolves.
Because the wolves are wild, there are no pets allowed on the property. You are also not allowed to drink alcohol, run, or take video. These can startle the wolves and can put a group in danger. Be sure to read over the sanctuary’s rules before attending a tour to keep everyone safe.

Lititz also hosts hundreds of events throughout the year. One of the most notable is the Lititz Fire and Ice Festival. You can also visit the carnival or enjoy watching a game of dodgeball.
