Friday Roundupby Kuhrich on Friday, March 4, 2016
Since today is Friday, I thought it would be a fitting time for another Friday Roundup. Today’s lineup includes unique home design and some interesting new appliances. Let’s dig in.
When we design homes for our clients, the home style that is requested by our clients the most (by far) is the Farmhouse Style. Also, in the last few years, we’ve been seeing increased interest in Modern home design as well. Throughout the history of American architecture, some of the most interesting homes styles have been a result of combining multiple homes styles together into a new hybrid. A beautiful home, designed by Cox Graae + Spack Architects and built near Washington DC, is an example of combining both Farmhouse and Modern home designs into a hybrid that features the best aspects of both styles. Here’s a picture slideshow of this home.
These days everyone loves vintage. An appliance company called Big Chill that is currently riding this trend offers 3 collections of handcrafted appliances with modern efficiency and function, but look like antiques. Some would describe these appliances as “Retro Chic”, even though I probably wouldn’t because saying the word “chic” makes me feel weird. Anyway, check out this video for more info on this distinctive line of appliances.
When it comes to appliances, new and unique finishes has become a new focus for many manufacturers. In the last few years Kitchenaid has released a finish called Black Stainless, which has been really popular among consumers. This line of appliances will be for buyers with a middle to upper-middle appliance budget. Across the board, people buying these appliances are generally reviewing them very highly. Check out this video for more info.
