by CustomHomes on Monday, August 19, 2013

Stone veneer is becoming increasingly popular as an interior accent or as the framing for existing fireplaces. There is no shortage of way that you can use this product to create a totally unique setting in almost any room in your house. When you are building your custom home, you have the opportunity to expand your creativity. Stone veneer is one way that you can do that.

The stone veneer of today has come a long way for what you may remember about it. The quality of today’s product on the market is extremely high and it looks exactly like stone to the naked eye. People have been using stone veneer to enhance the look of their homes exterior for quite some time, but now the trend has moved to include the interior of the home as well.

Accent Walls

One of the most common ways that stone veneer is used in the interior of a custom home is to create a distinct accent wall. The term accent is very important in understanding how the wall will appear. The purpose behind this concept is to create a wall that appears to be made of stone, without having the wall dominate the setting. An accent wall is just that, something that adds flavor and uniqueness to the existing décor in the room.

Stone veneer comes in all colors, shapes and textures and it is extremely important to have an idea of what you are attempting to do with the wall. When careful thought is given to style and color, a stone wall gives the room character

Fire Place

In the same manner with the wall, you will be able to use a similar approach to create the framing for your fireplace, while being completely creative in a number of different ways. Unlike real stone, which limits you to what is on hand at the time; stone veneer’s diversity in style allows you to let your imagination flow a bit. Be sure to consider the décor of the room and the scale when making your final decision.
