FlowerDecorating your home during the spring and early summer can be a blast. With light touches and some spring-cleaning you can make your home feel fresh and new.

Patio facelift

Instead of spending your weekends at restaurants or at the movies enjoy the company of your friends in the comfort of your own home. Sprucing up your patio or closed in deck can create the perfect relaxing spot for you and your friends.

Add some mood lighting with firefly string lights. They are softer than Christmas lights and create a wonderful ambiance for sipping sangria. You can also add small lighting touches by placing votives of citronella candles all around the patio perimeter. It will make your patio look wonderful and your guests won’t be asking for the bug spray every 2 minutes.

Revamp your patio furniture with a quick paint job and new upholstery. Be sure to buy quality upholstery that is comfortable but can stand up against the weather if necessary. This may be your biggest investment in your backyard but it is well worth it if it means the furniture lasts for years.

Plenty of flowers

It may seem cliché but flowers can light up any home with the right placement and accents. Be sure to change the water for your flowers everyday and give them plenty of sunlight to avoid drooping and wilt. This will keep them fresh for a very long time and your home will also look fresh and lively.

Once the flowers have begun to fade hang them from your ceiling so they can dry and become beautiful potpourri. You can still have beautiful flowers in your home all winter long or you can give the potpourri as gifts for the holidays, birthdays, or any other time of the year.

Lighten Up

For many of us throughout the winter we have bulky curtains to keep the heat in and the cold out. While your opening the windows letting some fresh air in push the heavy drapery to the side and put up light white, beige, or pastel curtains that can waft in the breeze. You will want to keep the original curtains up for when the heat of the summer hits but for now we can let some fresh air flow through.
