5 Snow Day Activities to Combat Cabin Fever

by CustomHomes on Thursday, February 2, 2017

Cookies!!!!!!Snow days can be magical, wonderful, and relaxing for adults and kids alike. But the third day in a row where you’re surrounded with snow, you can become a little bored. Here are a few snow day activities you and your children can do to stay sane during snow days:

Window Painting

With a little masking tape and watercolor paints, you can have a beautiful, colorful display on your windows thanks to your wee ones. If you have kids that are becoming antsy as the snow continues to fall, put some newspaper in front of your window and let your kid paint within the patterns you give them. You’ll be amazed by what your children will create! And the best part? When you’re tired of looking at the paint, it simply washes off with soap and water.

Indoor Skate Rink

If you have an unfinished basement or concrete flooring in your garage, this can be the perfect roller skating rink to get your kids to expel some excess energy. Just be sure the room is clear of furniture, valuables, and pets. Then, let them loose! They will be thrilled with the open space and you will be thrilled with the quiet time that comes afterwards.

Snow Paint

For this snow day game, all you need are watercolors, plenty of brushes, and lots of snow. Just head outside and begin painting to your heart’s content right on the snow. This game definitely helps combat cabin fever and expel pent-up energy.

Candy Cane Hunt

A candy cane hunt is a great way to entertain your kids. Really, you can use just about any candy. Simply throw candy canes, or other candy you’re using, throughout the home and let your children loose. If you can, try to get them to clean as they search. This way, by the time everyone is enjoying their candy canes, you can enjoy a clean and spotless home.

Bake Cookies

It may be cliché, but baking cookies is one of the best ways to celebrate a snow day. You can make these cookies from scratch or from the box. This is a great way to make your home feel warm and cozy, smell wonderful, and give your children a tasty thing to enjoy during a movie marathon or video tournament.

During the winter and snow days, energy can build up and cabin fever can hit at any time. These games, projects, and ideas will help you stay entertained. For more ideas, try these winter crafts for kids.
