Weekly Roundup

by Kuhrich on Friday, November 1, 2013

It’s that time again. We’ve got another Weekly Roundup coming your way with some great product recommendations and industry news, hot off the interWeb. Here goes!

First things first, let’s talk about appliances. Samsung has recently released a new refrigerator that was designed with storage capacity and versatility in mind. This fridge, which packs 32 cubic feet of storage space, features a convertible third zone at the bottom right door. Depending on your needs, the third zone can be converted to either a refrigerator or a freezer and would be ideal for large families or avid entertainers. One possible drawback for this unit is that it is almost 36″ deep from the back to the front of the doors. Depending on where your fridge is located and the setup of your cabinetry, it could potentially stick out into your walking area. Check it out and see what you think!

Next on the list is hardwood. Many of our clients love wide plank hardwood flooring and would love to install it in their homes. Unfortunately, there are not very many options for wood species that we are comfortable installing using boards any larger than 8″ wide because of the risk of cupping and warping of the boards. Virtu Wood Flooring created a great product that is constructed in 3 separate wood layers in order to drastically cut down on cupping and warping. They offer widths up to 16″ long. Check out their video for more information.

Let’s finish up with real estate news. The never ending question with an ever changing answer that I always hear people ask is: “Is real estate a good investment”. On this Fox Business clip of the show, Markets Now, host Adam Shapiro interviews real estate expert Barbara Corcoran about whether or not investing in real estate right now is a good idea. If you are thinking about buying a home or an investment property, this video is worth your time.

Have a great weekend!
