Weekly Roundupby Kuhrich on Friday, February 15, 2013
Welcome to the Weekly Roundup. I know we missed last week, but this week we’re back with some of the best news and highlights from the Housing Industry. I know you’re excited, so I’ll get right to it. Here goes…
For starters, the 2013 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas just finished up at the end of January. One of the best parts of this show is that every year the National Association of Home Builders and Builder Magazine co-sponsor The New American Home. This home is basically an idea home, kind of like a concept car, that is designed and built using the most advanced and state of the art building materials, products, appliances, audio/visual equipment and building practices. Even though this home is enormous, it really isn’t liveable for most families. Blue Heron, the Las Vegas builder who designed and constructed this home, described the target market as single, high-powered executives or a socialite couple that loves to entertain. If you want to read more and see photos of this amazing home, check out The New American Home website.
Next, in the news, CNN Money is reporting that based on the recent economic growth statistics, the housing industry’s recovery is quickly becoming the primary driver of the US economic recovery. The housing industry has also become the largest contributor to job growth in the last few months as well. Check out the this article for more info.
Finally, the product spotlight. A new product that I think is pretty amazing and would love to own is an innovation by Kohler called Moxie. Kohler had the incredible idea to take a shower head and attach a speaker to the center of it. The speaker attaches using a high powered magnet and can wirelessly connect to a musical device, like an iPod or iPhone, from up to 32′ away. You just pull the speaker out of the showerhead whenever you need to charge the battery. Visit Moxie’s webpage for more info.
That’s it for this week. Have a great weekend everyone!
