Weekly Roundup

Today, we’ve got ourselves another Roundup. I have some great new products and seasonal tips to throw your way. So sit back, relax and we’ll get into it.

First off, I came across one of those products that is such a simple and innovative idea that I am somewhat surprised that it hadn’t been invented already. Legrand specializes in wire management. In other words, they’ve created a number of really useful and creative types of electrical and cable outlets and switches. One such outlet is just ingenious (At least in my opinion). From their Adorne Collection comes the Pop-Out Outlet. This decorative outlet works by simply pushing on it. It then pops out to reveal 3 outlets on the top an sides that will receive a plug from any standard appliance. When you’re finished with the outlet, simply push it again to lock it back in place. See – simple yet innovative. Here’s a video if you want to see this thing in action.

This next product is for anyone that is going to be building a new home or taking on a complete facelift of the exterior of their home. Apex, a Marvin Windows company, just released a siding product that really seems like a great product. This siding is made of pultruded fiberglass, similar to Integrity Windows by Marvin (Also an excellent product). Apex claims that their siding has far greater strength and resistance to expansion than any other siding product available, including fiber cement. Because of their finish process, the color is infused with the fiberglass and supposedly will last as long as the siding, which they claim is just shy of forever. I’ve actually seen this product first hand and it seems to be a great alternative to vinyl and fiber cement. It is definitely a larger investment than other types of siding, but it may be worth it if you consider that you’ll never have to paint or replace it. Check this video out if you would like to see Apex Siding in action.

Since Spring is almost here, many people, like me, are beginning to plan out their vegetable gardens. MartaStewart.com posted a great slide show that briefly explains some of the crucial steps to take if you want to have a thriving garden through the Spring, Summer and Fall. If you are a gardening novice, this slide show could be a big help to you in the coming months. Check it out!
