Weekly Roundup

by Kuhrich on Monday, May 12, 2014

How’s Errrbody doing? We’re back with another Roundup. Today I’m going to discuss some cool new products and a slide show that I’ve come across in the last few weeks. So read on because I think we’ve got a good one today.

First on my list is for those of you that have painted areas on the exterior of your house. Scotch has finally released a blue painter’s tape that is resistant to sun, wind, rain and humidity. So, for large exterior paint projects there is no pressure to get all areas taped off and painted in the same day in order to avoid inclement weather. Here’s a video of this tape in action.

This next product may or may not be magic – I’m still not sure. Rustoleum has a spray-on treatment called NeverWet that can basically make almost anything waterproof. This treatment is sold in a 2 can application kit – a base coat and a top coat. I haven’t actually tried this product yet, but if it works as advertised, NeverWet is pretty incredible. You’re going to need to watch this video to believe what it’s capable of.

Depending on where you live, you may like to find out about affordable ways to make your house more secure. Brinno has a new take on the peephole. The Peephole Viewer is an easy to install kit that basically inserts a small camera into a hole drilled through your door and attaches a screen on the inside of the door. Not only does this Viewer block visitors from looking back through the peephole, but it also has a slot for a micro-SD card to store anything that is viewed. This product may not be helpful for everyone, but could provide some extra peace of mind for the right person. Check out this video if you’re interested.

On another note, all of us at Custom Home Group love home design and style. We’re always trying to maintain and refine our ability to design and build all types of exterior home styles. This Old House has a great slide show of some of the most well known American Home Styles. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Have a great week everyone!
