Weekly Roundupby Kuhrich on Monday, April 1, 2013
Well, look what we have here – another Weekly Roundup! This week we’re taking a look at some great new products and design advice. Let’s get started.
First up, let’s talk about appliances. I was recently in a local appliance store, Martin Appliance, discussing some of their products with the store manager. One product in particular by GE caught my attention. GE recently released a new appliance finish called Slate, which is an earth tone color that resembles a subtle mixture of charcoal gray and brown. This durable finish could go well with any number of different cabinetry styles, woods and finishes and won’t show fingerprints. Check this product out first hand by visiting GE’s website.
I know that skylights have a bad reputation from the 80’s and 90’s because of constant leaking issues, but Velux has been manufacturing great quality skylights with reliable flashing systems for a long time. A new product they just released is their Solar Powered Fresh Air Skylight. This unit utilizes sunlight to power the operator that opens the window and is controlled by an easy to use remote. One of the nicest features of this product is its built-in rain censor, which automatically closes the skylight as soon as it starts to rain.
Many of our clients love to mix simple solid colors and bold complex patterns when designing each of their rooms. Finding the right combinations of wall color, fabric patterns, wood tones, etc. without making a room look busy or mismatched can be challenging. This article by House Beautiful gives some great advice and examples on how to create living spaces with thoughtful and attractive interior design schemes.
