5 Interior Colors for Fall

October 9, 2018

When you think of fall, what comes to mind? You may think of things like leaves changing color, sweaters, crisp apples, pumpkins, warm apple cider, hot chocolate, Halloween, or something else completely. Regardless of what comes to mind for you, you may feel the urge to redecorate or add some fall elements to your decor as the seasons change. To help inspire you, here are some interior colors for fall:

1. Soft Beige or Gray

As the air turns colder, you may be more inclined to search for all things cozy and comfortable. Whether you just enjoy a cozy feeling or you’re going for the “cozy living” of Hygge, soft beige or gray can help you create a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere.

If you’re looking for a more drastic change, you can repaint a room in beige or gray for a neutral, calming atmosphere. For something more temporary and less drastic, you can include squishy throw pillows and thick blankets in these colors.

2. Crisp White

White is a classic and flexible interior color that can find a home in any season. Depending on the hue and the combination of other decor items, white can be a calm and soothing neutral or a bold accent that provides a contrast. This color can easily be incorporated into a theme to create a classic, formal look in a room or as an accent in furniture, fabrics, and more for a classic look or a bold accent.

3. Bold Red

Red is a strong interior color for fall. Reminiscent of fall leaves and bright red apples, bold reds can be incorporated into decor to make a room stand out. It can be easy to go overboard with bold colors, which is why sticking to accents if you’re unsure is one of the tips for decorating with bold colors.

A piece of furniture in a bold red can become a statement piece in a room while throw pillows or blankets in the color can be complementary accents. It can also be paired with beige, gray, white, or black to create a bold look for a room.

4. Pumpkin Orange

Pumpkins are synonymous with fall. Between Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Pumpkin-Spice everything, pumpkins bring orange to the forefront of interior colors for fall. You don’t have to go overboard and make everything orange, but incorporating the color here and there can help create a classic fall look.

Including orange pumpkins or fall leaves in your decor can incorporate orange into a room without overwhelming it. If you’re decorating for Halloween, feel free to go crazy; there will certainly be plenty of options to choose from.

5. Classic Black

Whether pairing with another interior fall color for a classy look or included in Halloween decor, you can’t go wrong with some black accents. You probably don’t want to paint an entire room black, but the color can be incorporated in furniture, fabrics, frames, and more to help create an interesting accent or look. It can be used alone to create a look or can be part of a palette for a bold, spooky, or classic look in a room.

Whether overhauling a room, adding some accents, or just decorating for Halloween, these interior colors for fall can help inspire your interior design and decor.
